A 20-year plan for $2.1 billion in regional multimodal transportation improvements throughout Pima County Arizona required extensive and strategic public outreach in order to gain understanding and acceptance of the improvements and the associated costs. Gordley coordinated with Pima Association of Governments and eight jurisdictions, as well as hundreds of stakeholders and groups, to create a plan for informing and engaging the public and moving the project forward. Our comprehensive public involvement plan included coordinating a news conference; extensive government and media relations; multiple public meetings and open houses; development of project graphics, fact sheets and public notification materials; PowerPoint presentations and display boards. Regional consensus was reached on major transportation routes and services selected for improvement and ultimately Pima County voters approved both the transportation plan and the half-cent sales tax to implement it.
