The City of Tucson sought to raise the awareness of approximately 1,500 targeted households about the need to bag and tie trash and to increase understanding of the health, safety and environmental benefits of containing trash for collection. We utilized various communication methods to raise awareness and understanding of the new initiative, including door hangers with attached trash bags distributed to targeted residential areas, and Sun Tran bus and Environmental Services truck signage.
Our team leveraged its long-term relationship with an outdoor advertising company to successfully negotiate a discounted rate for bus bench displays and bus shelter posters in strategically chosen locations in the Tucson area over the course of a year. Based on the success of the targeted pilot program in raising awareness and customer understanding of the importance to act on the Bag & Tie message, the campaign was expanded to include the entire Tucson service area.
